Designer gold innovation award for Metris® by PWS
Metris by PWS has been awarded the Designer Magazine’s 2009 Gold Award for product innovation for its contemporary, ergonomic curved kitchen system. Barry Stubbs accepted the award from architect and TV presenter George Clarke, host of the awards ceremony at Lord’s Cricket Ground on 6th October. Over 350 invited guests were brought together to witness the event, a ‘who’s who’ of the kitchen industry and media.
The renowned Design Awards celebrate and reward products that demonstrate real innovation and highlight the vital role of kitchen designers and manufacturers in driving innovation in the home, with a specific focus on kitchens and bathrooms.

The entry criteria were stringent. The product had to demonstrate innovation, a strong design and development process, functionality in serving a process and the acid test, that it had delivered actual sales. The Metris curved system achieved all of this, its registered design status and a glowing customer testimonial adding further weight to the application.

The beauty of the clever 1200mm curved system from Metris is that unlike other contoured units on the market, this one size creates three distinctive looks, and it’s because of this originality and distinguishing feature that registered design status has been achieved. The system creates the ingenious wave island, the fitted curve and the peninsular curve, forming effortless style and motion. To further differentiate from other designs a registered teardrop table has been developed, continuing the ergonomic fluidity of the design.

Comments Andrew Langford, PWS’ Marketing Manager, ‘Metris was the culmination of 2 years research and development so we are immensely proud to receive the product gold award from one of the industry’s leading design titles. It’s well deserved and is testimony to the excellence and ongoing commitment of our design team who continually deliver new and inspiring products.’
